Reggae Land has officially confirmed that the festival will expand to three days for the first time in its history, following an announcement made on Monday, 16th February 2025.

The decision comes after unprecedented demand for the 2026 weekend, which was already nearing a sell‑out after major artists — including Vybz Kartel — were revealed earlier this month.

To accommodate the overwhelming interest, organisers have added a new opening date: Friday, 31st July 2026.

The additional show will take place at the Milton Keynes National Bowl and will be headlined by global superstar Burna Boy, marking his first-ever performance at Reggae Land.

Burna Boy’s appearance is historic, as he becomes the first African Nigerian artist to headline Reggae Land.

His inclusion is being celebrated as a major cultural milestone, highlighting Africa’s growing influence on the global music stage and reinforcing the festival’s commitment to diverse international representation.

BURNA BOY’S REGGAE MUSIC HISTORY

Although Burna Boy is globally recognised for pioneering Afrofusion, his musical roots are deeply connected to reggae and dancehall. Growing up, he was heavily influenced by Caribbean icons such as Buju Banton, Sizzla, Capleton, Shabba Ranks, and Super Cat, blending their sound with African rhythms to create his unique sonic identity.

Key reggae‑influenced elements in Burna Boy’s career include:

- Reggae‑infused vocal delivery: His early projects, including L.I.F.E, showcased patois‑styled flows, roots‑inspired melodies, and dancehall‑driven production.

- Cultural fusion: Burna Boy has consistently credited reggae and dancehall as foundational genres that shaped his artistry and worldview.
- Global recognition:

His Grammy‑winning album Twice As Tall features strong reggae undertones, reinforcing his ability to merge African storytelling with Caribbean musical heritage.

- Bridging continents: Burna Boy’s success has strengthened the cultural bridge between Africa and the Caribbean, celebrating shared rhythms, history, and identity.

His headlining role at Reggae Land 2026 represents a symbolic full‑circle moment — an African artist returning to a genre that helped shape his sound, now standing centre‑stage at one of the UK’s most influential reggae festivals.
