Afro Fashion UK 2023 in Manchester

Blessing Maddran, the main organiser of  Afro Fashion Show UK in Manchester, successfully hosted the event for the second time. 

Her vision was to create a platform that showcases up and coming fashion designers within the African Caribbean community. 










The fashion show took place at Hilton Dean Gates, a top hotel conveniently located near the city centre and opposite the St Peters Square train station.

 The venue offered breath-taking views of the Manchester skyline from its impressive 23rd floor. 

Attendees were treated to a memorable experience.




The organisers were delighted to announce that Lord Mayor City of Manchester, Councillor Yasmin Dar, has graciously accepted the invitation to be the guest of honour at the event. 

Her acceptance of the invitation is a testament to her commitment to the city and her dedication to fostering a strong and inclusive community. 


Yasmin Dar, accompanied by Majid Dar, the Co-Founder & CEO of Solid Ground, a charity based in Manchester.

Councillor Dar is a highly respected figure in the community, known for her dedication to public service and commitment to improving the lives of Manchester residents. 

As the Lord Mayor, she has played a pivotal role in promoting civic engagement and fostering a sense of unity within the city. 

Her vast experience in local governance and her deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Manchester make her an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the future development of the city. 

Furthermore, Councillor Dar's presence will serve as a reminder of the importance of community involvement and the power of collective action in driving positive change.

During her visit, Mayor Yasmin Dar was deeply impressed by the abundance of talent in the city of Manchester. 


The hard work of designers and models contributed to the Fashion show's success, leaving a lasting impression on the mayor. 

In her speech, she emphasized the importance of perseverance and encouraged everyone to pursue their goals without giving up easily. 

Her words of encouragement aimed to inspire other women to strive for excellence.

The Fashion show attracted a significant number of local supporters from Manchester, resulting in a packed venue.


 Attendees enthusiastically captured the event by taking photos and filming with their phones.

Karen Osho, an organizer and brand sponsor of the event, played a significant role in promoting African fashion brands in the UK.

 The collaboration of various fashion brands, including Pretty Momo, Brittany, Lohi Fashion, Cultureville, and others, showcased their pride in being part of this remarkable show in Manchester. 





In the evening, guests enjoyed canapés and drinks while networking.




The venue also featured mini photography studios where guests could take professional photos as souvenirs, with instant print services available. 

Backstage, future models and musicians gathered, while the hardworking makeup team ensured that the makeup perfectly complemented the outfits.








 The impressive Afrobeat dance moves performed by professional dancers and enthusiastic guests created a fantastic atmosphere.

 Additionally, the hairstyling team's exceptional work left a lasting impression.

The Afro Fashion Show, held in Manchester, was a commendable event that provided a platform for African designers to showcase their products. 

This unique concept brought African flavours to Manchester and educated attendees about African heritage. 

The event celebrated African talents and offered valuable networking opportunities.

The fashion show was a moment of immense pride for the parents. 

They watched with joy as their children confidently strutted down the catwalk, showcasing the latest trends and designs. 

The parents were beaming with pride, knowing that their children had worked hard to prepare for this moment and had successfully made their mark in the fashion industry.

The children's walk on the catwalk was a testament to their dedication and talent. Each step was precise and calculated, displaying their impeccable sense of style and poise. 

The parents couldn't help but admire the way their children effortlessly commanded the attention of the audience, leaving a lasting impression on all who watched.

As the fashion show came to a close, the parents couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. 

They knew that their support and encouragement had played a crucial role in their children's success.

 With hearts full of pride, they eagerly awaited the next opportunity for their children to grace the catwalk and continue to make waves in the fashion world.
